I am 18 years old and my total face is pinkish red. Until about January of 2007, my face was a normal color and I had very bland acne. From that point on, my acne has gotten slightly worse and my face has gotten and has remained pink! Could this be acne rosacea? My dermatologist said that some peoples' dial are just red, but mine wasn't a little more than a year ago!!!
Answer: Find a new dermatologist. If your acne is getting worse, then you aren't receiving ample treatment, and you need more aggressive treatment. Your face could be turning more reddish due to a mixture of reasons -- 19 is early for the development of rosacea (it usually occurs after 30), but your features may be becoming more red due to just overall irritation and diffuse infection from the spread of your acne. If you got your acne under better command, your redness might subside.
You could be developing pre-rosacea ... I would suggest trying Plexion facial delete. It treats *both* acne and rosacea. As with all acne and rosacea medications, it takes time (a couple of months)

Rosacea might have the edge on acne because sometimes acne can just clear upon it's, but rosacea rarely does so by itself :(

I have been agony with acne rosacea for nearly a year and to date nothing that I try seems to work. I have been to the doctor several times. I am allergic to most of what they perscribe and what I am not allergic to reasonable doesn't help.
The past three months I have been using a skin care system called "Zen Med". It helps a teensy-weensy, but not enough. There are so many treatment options on-line, it can really confuse you as to choosing what is right for you.
Does anyone have any suggestions? And please no "See a dermatologist" suggestions. I have with no results. I haven't looked "rational" in nearly a year now.

Avoid Alcohol
Avoid prolonged warmth exposure
Avoid hot liquids (coffee, tea)
Avoid heavy cosmetics
Keep provocative medications such as Benzoyl Peroxide or Topical Corticosteroids
