Has anyone tried a steriod injection for thyroidectomy scar to set up it less visible? How effective it is?
Answer: may i mention favourably that you first try vitamin e. buy a bottle of vitamin e gel capsules and prick it with a clean sterile pin and stuff some all over the scar. steroid injection will only last for a short time and the side effects of anything steroid are terrible. Steriod injections are habituated to for a temporary reduction in swelling, not as a healing treatment.
there are also products on the market just now for scars. your surgeon should have made his/her incision just above the collar bone so the scar is not so visible. are you a human being that grows scars? some people do and the vitamin e will help.
another choice is Palmer's cocoa butter formulary.

Thyroidectomy Scar?
Question by pensacola_sweetie19 | Posted in Cancer
How burly is the Scar? how visible is it and how long does it take to heal?
Answer: HI, my scar is about 2 to 2 and 1/2 inches hanker. it looks like a crease in my neck and unless I tilt my head up and point up it out (then it wrinkles different than the skin around it) no one notices it AT ALL! It was super red the first week or two, and then pretty lively pink for a while, but after it healed, I could even put makeup on it...which I don't need now. ALWAYS use sun screen on it, because the sun can cause it to discolor. other than that? it had strips on it that prostrate off on their own after afew days and then after the real red was over I did use vitamin e oil once in a while...a really good surgeon makes a big dissimilarity....and of course, even if you did have a scar it
How Soon Can I Apply Bio-oil Or Mederma To My Thyroidectomy Scar?
Question by Rose | Posted in Other - Skin & Body
i well-founded got my thyroid removed yesterday morning. its not a large scar (maybe 2 inches) and over culture it will become less noticable. but the sooner i start treating it the better. how many days should i wait before difficult anything?
Answer: i would stand by untill the scabbies are all gone and while it is still soft and pink rub oil into it (that sounded dirty)... or you can be like Rambo and spew out gun powder into the opened wound right now and light it on fire... that was sexy too.
I was good told I have to get a "hemi" thyroidectomy (half thyroid removal) because of a nodule found in the goodness lobe and after two fine needle biopsies, there are hurthle cells and they want to take half out.
My query is for those who have had a thyroidectomy, what do you think is the most common type of stitches used?
I know this is the last thing i should possibly worry about, but I really do not want a huge ugly scar on my neck, I don't scar very well (i've had moles dug out of my back before)
Any (serious) answers would be terrific!
Answer: From what I've seen and to who I've talked to, stitches are not commonly hardened, Dermabond (surgical glue) is; however it is surgeon's preference. I don't scar well at all since I'm a fair-skinned redhead, but since mine was cancer, I hold up my Dermabond sealed scar proudly. Anyways, you will get internal stitches, but ask ahead if your surgeon does or can use Dermabond. I'm not infallible of your age, but your surgeon will try to place your incision (usually 1.5-2") in a skin go out of business, line or wrinkle (It wasn't an option for me at 21). To prevent a "unpleasant" scar, wear sunblock!! Also, if you are prone to raised scars, you should ask your surgeon if they

I had a unalloyed thyroidectomy back in Feb. 2009. I had RAI the week of April 6-10 where I had my uptakes, look and then RAI. I'm doing unquestionably salutary. I'm enchanting cytomel for 4 more days, and then unprejudiced synthroid. I go back on the 20th of April for another whole hull scan to see if there is any pile leftist. My inquiry is about the scar after the surgery. I was told that vitamin E oil like from the...

Thankfully scarves are very in fashion right now and therefore a thyroidectomy scar can be easily hidden for public outings. But am I still going to be wearing a scarf when I get down and gungy? Plus, it's slightly more than uncomfortable to wear a
