If I Get My Thyroid Glands Removed Will It Leave A Scar Around My Collar/neck Lining?
Question by angelica242200242 | Posted in Women's Health
My doctor is potent me I have to get my thyroid gland removed. I was wondering if there was maybe a different way of dealing with this problem. Perchance, I should get a second doctors opinion, because I know if I get the gland remove I will have to be on medication, to take over from the horomones the gland produces, for the rest of my life. However, if surgery is a "must", can I get surgery done that will not licence a scar? Can someone answer my question?
Answer: I have known a lot of people who have had this surgery. The surgeon always ensures that the descent is as small as possible and ideally in a crease line.
Initially the scar is quite clear whilst it is still healing. Once it is healed you hardly notice anything. It is very small and faint. Often I have not noticed until people have told me about it.
One other fashion I would like to mention is that I would take your surgeons advice. S/he would not operate unless it was necessary.
Kind-hearted luck.

They have cure-all that can just kill my thyroid. I have to have it taken out or killed. Medicine is not working for me, bad side effects. By reason of you
Answer: I have thyroid ailment. It runs in my family and I have several members with thyroid problems, including thyroid cancer and Grave's Contagion. Unless you have thyroid cancer or Grave's Disease, usually removing or killing off your thyroid isn't a positive idea. It's true that although Grave's Disease can be corrected with medication, sometimes that doesn't vocation and you do end up having to have your thyroid killed off or removed. If that is what is going on with you, be forewarned, you will need to be on medication for the brace of your life after your thyroid is killed off or removed because your body will no longer be getting the correct thyroid hormones it needs and you will then become
Has anyone had a scar revised from a thyroidectomy? I am looking to find out tidings about healing. Is it bascailly the same healing procedure over again like when I had surgery the first time? How eat one's heart out is the surgery? Can you leave immediatly after? So many questions I didn't think about asking when I was at my doctors obligation!
Thanks!
Answer: It is meet that the scar will be fairly similar. The procedure most likely could be done under what is called a MAC (Mild Anesthesia Responsibility). They would numb the area up, and give you some "happy medicine" so you would not regard about anything, but you would be completely awake, just not feeling anything. They would just cut the scar out with a little healthy concatenation around it, and then put the two ends back together. I would recommend seeing a plastic surgeon for this, and not the ENT that did your surgery. It would most likely be covered by warranty (even with the plastic surgeon, very common).
