Question by The Other Woman ;) | Posted in Tattoos
I have a r of self-injury and I had staph infection in the past, both left scars. The scars from the infection are good on the surface but the other scars run a little deeper. I just wanted to know if it was plausible to tattoo over that. I wanted a tattoo on my wrist and a tattoo on my shoulder, that's where my scars are. Any answers will be helpful. Thanks in benefit.
Answer: Yes, I had both my arms tattooed over scar web, and some of the scars were quite deep. No different techniques (that I could tell) and he used the same ink. They healed up outstanding, and still look great 5 years later. You can just barely see the different constitution of the skin in the scarred areas.
So, any capable tattoo artist should be able to handle it.

Can You Get A Tattoo Over Scar Tissue?
Question by shell2008bell | Posted in Tattoos
A co-worker of mine used to cut her wrists & now she wants a tattoo on her wrists. & she heard that you can't get a tattoo over scar tissue cause the ink won't postponement. Is it true?
Answer: It will shore up if the scarring isn't extensive. The deeper the tissue, the more it won't hold color. I do tat's over scars all the once in a while, and a good artist will know how to incorporate the scar with the tat if it can't be covered. And no, it doesn't hurt more, since scar combination has no nerve endings.
Where Can I Find A Tattoo Artist To Tattoo Over My Scar?
Question by k | Posted in Tattoos
I have a hypertrophic scar - 2 years old now. I would like to get a tattoo over it. I be conversant with that the scar will not 100% take ink, but I want a tattoo to go in that area because it would look better than just staring at an debased scar! If you know any artist that could help me could you please give me a heads up, the name of the parlour / the phone number / etc?
This would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Answer: Most places won't tattoo it because it is a properly new scar, although scars have to be at least 2 years old to tattoo over. Why not have something done just above it, with a design that you can add to over the scar at a later time (like for criterion, say you go a koi fish or something and had water behind it, so you could extend the water over the scar when it is older) This is just an idea, and I have seen this a lot on miami ink because the scar will take improved the older it is. Sorry if I'm not much help, but don't just go anywhere that will do it. You need to speak to a tattoo artist with a lot of encounter. You could try emailing some? I don't know where you live but Nick Reid of Skunx,
Like, some fetching severe scars, say, like something you would get from getting surgery? Can you tattoo over them and it cover them up?
Answer: Yea you can. I truly just did bout a week ago. Just make sure the scar is completly healed.
I have to grass on you that it def hurts alot more when tattooing over the scar.. Go for it, its all good :)
I already have several tattoos and I pauperism to cover up two surgical scars on my inner wrists. Is there anything special I need to do to get a tattoo over a scar? Will it even effort?
I've heard conflicting information about it. The only thing that I know for sure is I have to wait until the scars are fully healed, upwards of 2 years.
I'm not rushing into this. I'm planning on waiting at the very least 2 years and getting an ok from my doctor before I get them done
Answer: It's become a reality, you do need to wait for the scars to heal properly. But you can tattoo over scars. The results can be changing, though. It can sometimes be more painful to tattoo over scars, while some people say that it doesn't hurt any more at all. How the ink reacts to the tissue can alternate as well, whether it stays or leaks.
The best idea would be to see a reputable tattoo artist and ask their opinion. Many tattooists have worked with scars, and a favourable artist will be able to assess your own situation.

Oh my god! This is one of my overpower friends, I saw this tattoo being done (the northern one, put down was completed after) This was done at in dire straits booked in st. john’s NL, CA in the stomach of a snowstorm, 2005. And I can’t assume that you have this fancy, I identically wasted my insight when i saw it.
