Do You Have The Smallpox Vaccine Scar?
Question by I'm an idiot goodbye | Posted in Infectious Diseases
The barely circle scar on your upper arm? My parents did (born in 57 & 58) but I don't. When did they station using that kind of vaccine?
Answer: The last endemic box of smallpox was in Somalia in 1977, and the World Health Assembly declared the world emancipated of smallpox in 1980. The U.S. quit using the vaccine in 1972, except for military personnel. New recruits were no longer vaccinated starting after 1990. Interestingly enough (to me, anyway) I do have the scar. I was born in 1974, two years after the vaccine was no longer foreordained. My dad was a doctor, however, and we had family stationed in the military in Panama whom we would go to visit. Hence, I got the vaccine. No one else my age has the scar. I think it's affectionate of cool. LOL

I have a smallpox vaccine scar from bootcamp and after 4 months it is still alot more red and less faded than any other scar I've ever had. Is there a way to succour it "fade" faster?? Thanks for the help.
Answer: The only way I understand of to cover scars and things of that nature are by using actor's or pancake survive-up but you need to match it up carefully or people will notice the area more not less, depending on where it is. If you can furnish it go to a larger, well known store where they can show you how to match your color and then how to place it so you get the maximum covering more, but be careful here. These girls usually will try to sell you more then you need. Either take a logical friend or whenever you get that this isn't needed identification you're probably right. You won't need allot to take it off or prepare to put it on, just a clean appearance after shaving. Good luck and God
my husband is distressing to convince me that only women have the circular vaccine scar on their upper arm/shoulder that results from the smallpox vaccine. i say this is not the case, that both girls and boys received them until a standard year. HELP??? do you have one of these scars? are you a man or woman?
Answer: Both men and women were vaccinated to daily help to eradicate small pox.
I no more than got a smallpox vaccine in my upper left arm and the dumb man put it right by my tattoo LIKE I TOLD HIM NOT TO. I due wanna know if it will even go away to where it's invisible like it was never there, cuz I don't want everyone to see a ugly scar in my arm. I take snobbishness in my tattoos and this scar just seems like a distraction....
Answer: If you are talking about the flat "hole" or mark left behind by the vaccine, yes it will eventually go away. As hanker as you don't pick at it, or try to get it to heal faster, you won't have any problems. Vaccines generally do not leave scars. If you are suffering about permanent scarring, all though I do not know why you would be in this case, you can apply Mederma to the area which will debar a scar from forming.
