I'm Having Trouble Writing My Story Due To My Lack Of Experience In The Area Of Grief? |
...In the courtyard of grief.
In the story I'm writing, many of the characters have lost loved ones (due to a war prevailing on). As I'm rereading, I feel like I'm straying from what people would actually feel when desolation someone they love. Can anyone give me some tips, or even a personal story that I can reference to? If I have people read it, I don't crave to offend anyone who has experience in the grief/death area by not portraying it that way that it actually feels. ^^;
Thanks in beyond!
This is an excerpt from my first chapter. Keep in mind that it is POURING outside.
It had been four years and two hundred seventy-four days since the liquidation
| Answer: only to let ya know, it's super good :) but i see what you mean about it coming across as.. not grief-like? from what i conclude from, it's obvious to me that this person is grieving their family's death, but i don't really feel it. if that makes pick up. what i try to do when writing, and i know this sounds extremely cliche, is put myself in their position. imagine existence without your family, or whoever is the most important to you. what would change without them? would you be able to deal with the change? what's it like sly they will never come back and life will never resume the path it had before? try and channel all those thoughts and emotions into what your badge |
