Bio Oil To Reduce Scars Following A Mastectomy?

I am 31 had a bilateral mastectomy 10 weeks ago. The scars are unbroken and very neat, but they are up to 1cm wide in places and bright red. I normally heal well so this is a shock to me. I'm panic-stricken to find something to fade them, my surgeon recommended Bio Oil, which I've used for the past 2 weeks with no result. Can anyone allocate their experience with Bio Oil or tips for reducing scars?

Also, I'm having a reconstruction in a few months. Will this mean a whole new set of scars to manage with?

The Bio Oil has worked great for fading freckles on my face and hands, so it is doing something! I merely want those darn scars to vamoosh!

Answer: Bio Oil has been one of the more ones for healing. You wrote that you have used it for 2 weeks, would you be willing to wait a midget longer to see if there were future changes ?
Sounds like you are applying it correctly per instructions via Bio-Oil-

It does say that it can take a nominal of three months to notice improvement while using it twice a day. So actually you still have a lot more time to see if it's very working or not.
I wish you all the best on your second surgery.

Would Getting A Tattoo Across My Chest Help To Hide Some Scars?

I'm getting a mastectomy in a few years, which will run off some scars under where my breasts used to be. The scars will fade over time, but may never completely disappear. I'm aware that brand tissue is more painful to have tattooed than normal skin and I am NOT just getting a tattoo across my caddy for the sake of attempting to cover up the scars. I was just wondering whether the tattoo itself would be able to hibernate the scars a little bit or if it would just draw more attention to the scars.

Answer: Acknowledgement god your not just doing it for a cover up. I apprenticed a man who had a client that insisted I do a tattoo to overspread up some scars. Sometimes it will work, but there's a risk that comes along with it.

Tattoos are meant to stay in skin that is tonic. In time or even immediately the scar can reject the tattoo ink more than the normal skin around it which enhances the disfigure. Scars can make the tattoo come out looking a bit strange as well. Ink on scars can also either fade faster or slower than the husk around it, which can also enhance where the scar is.

Best of luck.

Im A 20 Year Old Breast Cancer Surviovor And Had A Mastectomy?

Yes i am the youngest my link up of surgeons has ever seen
I just want to know how lond does it take for my scars to coffin-nail? 2, 3, 4 years?
After i have reconstruction what will the scars look like over my breast implants?
Is there anyway to impute the scars fade faster?

Answer: Put vitamin E oil on the scars shortly. I had a lump removed when I was 22, and thats what I did. It took about a year or 2 for the scar to blench completely. Sometimes still it turns bright purple, but I think it has to do with my temperature...not too sure on that one! But as of now, thanks to the vitamin E oil...you can scarcely see the scar at all.
