Does C-section Scar Tissue Affect Fertility Or Cause Miscarriages?
Question by Laura S | Posted in Pregnancy
I have had 2 c-sections (last one was 3 years ago) and just now had a very early miscarriage. During the ultrasound the tech had a hard time seeing invariable things because of the scar tissue. Could scar tissue be a reason for the miscarriage? In other words, can scar tissue keep the embryo from implanting properly?
I was only 4 weeks fertile so they baby wasn't even formed yet so I don't think it was placenta previa (sp?) or other placenta problems
Answer: I worked in OB/GYN for 7 years and I have never heard anything that would urge that scar tissue would ever hurt anything. In fact, I was born with birth defects and had many, many surgeries in my female areas and I am fecund. The only thing that was mentioned with my scar is that it may be more difficult to see the baby's anatomy on the ultrasound so more than one ultrasound may be needed. I should add that my scar goes from my belly button courtyard clear down to my female area and it had been opened several times over so there is alot of scar tissue in there.
And V-BAC's are safe so I don't understand what that first answerer is talking about.
Can Internal Scar Tissue From C-section Scar Be Seen On An Ultra Sound ?
Question by Descarada | Posted in Pregnancy
Very recently curious, I had a c-section 5 years ago and I'm 32 weeks pregnant having another c-section in a few weeks....and i was wondering if they can see how much scar tissue formed from that c section in 2006 ?
My assign question is
When you have a 2nd c section ...Is the incision spot over the exact same scar ?
Thanks
Answer: Not always. Sometimes, with transvaginal ultrasound you can see some shadowing from the section where the scar is, but it is not always visible & it's not really defined. In general, ultrasound doesn't really pick up on scar tissue.

I have interstitial cystitis (IC) and it has been flaring up honestly bad lately. I went to my doctor yesterday and told her I am also having pains in my degrade abdomen and back on my right side. I figured this was related to my IC, but she said she thinks what I am feeling is scar tissue as a denouement of having 2 c-sections. Has anyone dealt with this before? If so, do you know if that could cause my IC symptoms to flare as well? Also, it seems wierd to me that these pains would materialize now, as my first c-section was 6 years ago and my last was 2 years ago. Please help and let me know if you know anything that can help, both with the IC and the pains. My doctor said the only obsession
Answer: The IC is basically clogged crust pours. Try keeping the area cleaner and dryer.
The abdominal pain could be a digit of things. I wouldn't ignore it until I was sure there wasn't anything bad that cold be causing the headache. Did she check for ovarian cysts or endometriosis. You may also want to see a Family Practice doctor as they will look for things a GYN may not look for.
